(Parks and Leisure Australia)
Parks and Leisure Australia WA identified the need to develop a tool for practitioners in the Parks and Recreation industry to:
- Determine appropriate standards and options for facility provision; and
- To support an orderly and planned process of facility and service development.
The first stage involved a literature review of relevant documents from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada to establish key themes and industry benchmarks. The production of a series of guidelines associated with population parameters to support the planning of community facilities was drafted for peer review and further analysis. In 2014 further work was undertaken to map and spatially plan a series of identified community facilities in order that the guidelines could be tested challenged and revised.
